This week the Destroyers played East Aurora and Josh got his first start as Quarterback. He practiced super hard this past week on running his plays. He did really well even though the team had a rough game. Hopefully Josh will get to finish the year at this position, I think it's his favorite so far :)

Getting Psyched Destroyer Style

I can't help it...this is my favorite part of the game. Coach Russ is our biggest cheerleader and gets these boys pumped up! They had a BIG game on Saturday against Alden. We knew Alden was good, and coach Russ wanted to make sure our kids were psyched and ready to make some plays. The boys played a better first half and got a touchdown and an interception...But by the second half they were already pretty much defeated and things went downhill. Josh has been practicing at quarterback this past week, so hopefully next week when were playing against a more even matched team he'll be sporting a new position :)

1st Week of School

I'm playing catch up here...I wanted to post on the 1st day of school, but life happens :) As for school ~ so far, so good...

Kayla is enjoying 4th grade and just had her 1st clarinet lesson (she'll be in the band this year). Monday she actually gets to blow into the instrument...oh goody! She likes her teacher and is happy to be back with all her friends again.

Josh is going to be a challenge this year...he doesn't mind going to school, but homework is going to be a struggle. Typical little boy. He has the same teacher Kayla had last year because she's teaching 2nd grade now...so Josh has his work cut out for him, Kayla is a tough act to follow.

We have open house tonight, so we'll get the inside scoop :)

I'm Getting Published!

I submitted a LO to the Digital Scrapbook Artisan Guild last week. The call was for layouts with blending and the layout was one that I did for Steve and Tabitha's wedding. I'd love to show ya, but I had to remove it from all of my online galleries.

The House that Ruth Built

We had an amazing opportunity Labor Day weekend to visit NYC and attend the Aug. 31st game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the NY Yankees. With this being the final season for the Yankees in Yankee Stadium this was an offer too good to pass up. Those who know Tim well know he's a die-hard Cardinals fan, and definitely NOT a Yankees fan...but any baseball fan would jump at the chance to experience a New York home game in one of the coolest stadiums in the country.


Got Rings?

We arrived in NYC late Saturday night and were ready to start bight and early Sunday morning. First stop was to Grand Central Station for NY-style bagels for breakfast. Then we headed to the stadium early to be able to take everything in. We wanted to make sure we were able to see Monument Park which contains a collection of monuments, plaques and retired numbers, pertaining to the New York Yankees. The game was cool, and we were able to see Eckstein and Rolan (former Cardinals) who now play for the Blue Jays. The Yankees lost 6-2, but A-Rod (Josh's favorite) scored a homerun...so he was happy.

After the game, we headed to Time Square and Rockefeller Center for a little sight-seeing. We also managed to get to Ground Zero...Tim really wanted to see the site and I haven't been there since 2002 so we wanted to make a special trip. Lastly, we took a round trip on the Staten Island Ferry...it was dark so my pics didn't turn out so good, but what a site with the NYC skyline all lit up.

A million thanks to Gene for getting us the tickets and to Steve and Tabitha for letting us shack up at La Maison...we owe you BIG TIME! When do the Devils play the Sabres??? Sounds like a good time for a return trip!

Museum of Play

Tim and I both had the day off on Tuesday and we were looking for something fun to do with the kids as their summer vacation is winding down. My Aunt Patty bought our family passes to the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester a couple Christmases ago and we just haven't gotten around to making the trip. Well Tuesday was perfect! It was a nice drive and, well, the museum was soooo COOL!



We started off checking out the Saltwater Fish Exhibit and then went on to The Field of Play. The kids rock climbed, drag raced, played in tilted rooms, and worked puzzled and all sorts of activities.

Then we were on to visit Sesame Street (took me back too!) which was filled with lots of activities just like the TV show used to be :)

Next stop was the Kids Wegmans! They were allowed to shop for 5 items, then they had to cash out, print a receipt, and then restock the shelves. Kayla and Josh loved this one. They actually did it three times...first times just for fun, second time the goal was who could spend the least amount, third time was who could spend the most. Josh won both times LOL!

They also had a National Toy Hall of Fame exhibit...it was cool to see some of the retro toys. Also made me feel a bit old!

The coolest part (for me at least) was the Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden. Freaked me out a bit at first...the butterflies are EVERYWHERE! One kept landing on Tim, on his shoulder his head, his ear...butterflies taste with their feet so he must've tasted good :) You had to be careful where you walked because they would land on the ground too. They only give you 20 minutes to visit and Kayla was a little upset because she really wanted a butterfly to land on her. We were reaching the end of our time and one finally rested on her shoulder...it made her so happy!







As we were grabbing a bite to eat before we left, Tim asked the kids what their favorite parts were and what they learned...Kayla's reply..."Learned? We were supposed to learn something?" We retraced out steps and talked about all the cool activities and the light bulb went off. See...learning is FUN! Thanks for the trip to the museum Aunt Patty...and if you need suggestions for this Christmas, we would LOVE to go back *wink wink*!!!

First Game & Picture Day :)

Today was the Destroyers first game of the season and picture day!



The boys played Holland today and won 18-7. Josh spent the day at safety on defense and played end on offense. He didn't play much offense but he had an awesome tackle at safety taking on a kid twice his size. He got high fives from all the coaches...we were pretty impressed too :)
