Tremaine Nationals ~ Orlando

We're back from another successful trip to Orlando for the Tremaine Dance National Finals! Once again...The Future Dance Center represented B-Lo and the companies did amazing! The week was jam-packed with dance classes and competition everyday but we enjoyed every minute!

The week started with Cash Awards competition. This is for the dances that didn't compete in a regional competition and qualify for the National competition. Kayla's tap number "Wanna Be Startin' Something" was entered here and they took 1st place and the overall "Best of Show" for the entire Junior level. They wore one white glove in honor of MJ and it was the best they ever performed it :-)

National competition went just as well! Hands Down (Jazz) scored a 1st place as well as Rugrat Robbery (Hip Hop). Rugrat Robbery also made it into the Gala, which showcases the top 3 numbers from the Junior, Teen and Senior divisions. So, 9 numbers out of probably 300 are chosen for this special honor, and 3 of them were Future Dances (one at each level)...these guys were good! Rugrat Robbery was given the "Best Showmanship" award for the gala.

This year Mitzi Gaynor (South Pacific 1958, "I'm Gonna Wash that Man Right Out of My Hair") was the celebrity guest. She was absolutely stunning and we were so glad we were able to get to know more about her. Here she is with Joe Tremaine at the Gala.

Here is a photo of the Shorties at the Gala...all in black, white and pink (totally unplanned!) and wearing white gloves in memory of MJ :-)

Kayla and the trophy they won for Rugrat Robbery!

All three companies after performing at the Gala.

We didn't have really great weather while we were there. Poor Kayla only made it to the pool a couple times...seems like every time she got her suit on, it poured. It was monsoon-ing the night of the gala, so all of our photos had to be taken inside this year. Oh, well!

Here is a little video of Kayla's group performing at the gala...enjoy!
